USI is determined to provide students with a thriving community in order to nourish their full potential. Therefore, for 2021-2022, the Outdoor Adventures LLC will be consolidated with some other LLCs to form the new SCREAGLES LLC! In the Screagles LLC, you'll meet students with a wide-range of passions and interests--students who want to form relationships in a close-knit community! Email us for more info!
Do you head outside to relax? Do you care about nature and the environment? Whether you love hiking, rock-climbing, fossil-hunting, rafting, caving, sustainable living, or something else, you’re sure to find a kindred spirit in this LLC. Students from all majors* are welcome. Your LLC might include local hikes, canoe trips, rock-climbing, geology excursions, and nearby caves. Explore the world and save the planet with your LLC!
Students in the LLC will take your UNIV 101 First Year Experience class together. This is a Core 39 required class.
In addition, you'll be able to choose from a wide-range of LLC sections in classes such as Public Speaking, Art, History, Psychology, Career Planning, Geography, Hiking, and much more! You will join with students from other LLCs to take the classes that work best for YOUR schedule, for YOUR major, and for YOUR interests.
LLC Signature Experiences:
There are so many things your LLC could do! Do you want to take a day trip to Garden of the Gods or Marengo Caves? Make and hang up bird feeders around campus? You can go hiking or biking on USI's campus trails or check out our very own rock-climbing wall. There's lots of exploring to do in southern Indiana! You could also come up with sustainable campus initiatives and see how to make USI greener.
Ms. Carrie Wright is your LLC Mentor!
"Hi, Everyone! I'm a Geology Instructor here at USI, and the Mentor for the Outdoor Adventures LLC! I love spending time outside exploring and learning about nature. So much of my life involves the outdoors. I teach Geology, so I am intrinsically interested in minerals, rocks, mountains, glaciers, streams, volcanoes, etc. I study minerals and geoscience education, and I am branching out into environmental science. I care deeply about the environment--the preservation of National Parks and other places of natural importance, living sustainably, and environmental policy. I am a gardener (flowers and vegetables), and enjoy creating habitat for pollinators and other creatures. I have been known to get distracted looking at a cute bumblebee or skink. I love hiking, kayaking, and canoeing. I am also an Austen scholar with a Master of Arts in English, and I enjoy sewing my own historical costumes for events like the Jane Austen Festival in Louisville."
