Dr. Susan Ely and Dr. Jenna Kloosterman are the Co-Mentors for the Engineering LLC!
Dr. Susan Ely: "Hi! Although I've lived for over 16 years in Indiana, I will always call myself a New Yorker – growing up in NYC meant becoming a foodie, loving to travel and lover of music and theater. My favorite pastimes are hiking, reading, singing and cheering for the Cubs. I travel as often as possible, always happy to taste local cuisine and explore new areas. Walking by my office, you're likely to hear music from Hamilton, Taylor Swift, or any rock band popular in the late nineties. I teach courses in the general engineering curriculum and classes related to Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing. My research interests include barriers to lean implementation, retention of female engineering students and best practices in curriculum design for technical coursework."
Dr. Jenna Kloosterman: "I grew up in southern Indiana before moving west to complete my undergraduate degree in physics and a PhD in electrical and computer engineering. I worked at the Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena, CA as a postdoc and systems engineer before returning to my southern Indiana roots to join the faculty at USI in a joint position between physics and engineering in the fall of 2017. As part of my official duties in graduate school and as a postdoc I traveled the world installing instruments on telescopes designed to look at star forming regions in our galaxy and other nearby galaxies. When not working, I enjoy yoga, reading, and spending time with my dog."
