Job Description Summary
The David L. Rice Library at the University of Southern Indiana seeks a highly-motivated and creative librarian to join our team.

The Reference and Instruction Librarian will:

• Conduct research instruction sessions
• Provide in-person and virtual reference service
• Assist in planning and executing outreach activities for the library
• Assist in publicizing programs or resources to the University community

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

• American Library Association-accredited Master of Library Science degree (or equivalent) required
• Prior experience in reference work is strongly preferred
• Experience in providing library instruction is preferred
• Teaching experience is preferred

Job Description Summary
The David L. Rice Library at the University of Southern Indiana seeks a highly-motivated and creative librarian to join our team to serve as the Head of Reference and Instruction Services Librarian.

Primary responsibilities include:
• Oversee and actively contribute to the activities of the library’s Reference and Instruction unit, fostering a collegial, creative, and team-oriented environment
• Provide leadership to expand and continually improve the library instruction program, research assistance, and outreach initiatives
• Monitor and evaluate the services provided by the Reference and Instructional Services unit
• Manage and coordinate the work of full-time librarians participating in reference, instruction, online learning, and outreach activities
• Hire, train, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate the work of graduate assistants
• Provide instruction and reference assistance to a variety of learners through a variety of mediums

Essential Knowledge and Skills:
• American Library Association accredited Master of Library Science degree (or equivalent) required
• Minimum of five years of professional academic library experience required
• Three or more years of professional library experience in a supervisory capacity preferred
• Three years of direct teaching experience is required, along with program planning, and/or project management experience
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills required
• Ability to work independently, flexibility, and attention to detail required
• Proficiency with technology used in an educational or library setting required

Job Description Summary
The library is seeking a full-time senior library assistant to perform day-to-day duties for the library’s periodicals unit and the entire suite of delivery services for Interlibrary Loan (ILL).

Responsibilities include:
• Receiving, claiming, and maintaining serials so that they may be clearly identified and located
• Update serial records as part of serial check-in and inventory
• Route serials to directed individuals and locations
• Enter serial purchase orders and invoices into the acquisitions module of the library’s integrated library system
• Process serial gifts
• Record and process bindery items for commercial binding
• Verify citation information
• Order materials for USI faculty, staff, and students
• Complete all processes for the on-campus delivery services, Article Delivery and Campus Express

Essential Knowledge and Skills:
• High school diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Two years of related experience required, preferably in library systems and process. A combination of equivalent coursework and experience may be considered.
• Strong customer service skills required.
• Working knowledge of computers, word processing, spreadsheets, and Internet required.
• Strong organizational skills are required.
• Attention to detail is required.
