1965 | Indiana State University-Evansville opened on September 15; first classes held in Centennial School with 412 students, two full-time and 36 part-time faculty and staff |
1979 | SIHE announced plans to provide student housing |
1984 | First student housing opened at ISUE. Housing known as Mid-America Student Housing Inc. (currently O'Daniel South Apartments: Boon, Bigger, Dunning, Hendricks, Jennings, Noble, Ray, Wallace, Whitcomb, Wright) |
1985 | Legislation signed on April 16, 1985, establishing a separate state university, University of Southern Indiana |
1986 | USI accepted the gift of property from MASH, for apartments adjacent to campus. (currently McDonald East Apartments: Baker, Chase, Gray, Hammond, Hendricks, Hovey, Lane, Matthews, Morton, Mount, Porter, Willard, Williams - all built in 1975) |
1990 | Two more apartment buildings were added in the area now known today as McDonald West: Durbin and Hanly. |
1991 | McDonald West expanded by two more buildings: Marshall and Saletta. |
1993 | Four more buildings were added to McDonald West: Branch, Goodrich, McCray and Ralston. |
1994 |
SIHE transfers ownership of $15 million student apartments to USI. Apartment areas renamed to Frank F. McDonald Apartment Complex and Joseph E. O'Daniel Apartment Complex. Final building in McDonald West area opened: Jackson. |
1996 |
Housing and Residence Life increased capacity with the addition of O'Daniel North buildings: Bowen, Branigin, Craig, Gates, Leslie, McNutt, Schricker, Townsend, Welsh. |
1997 | Robert J. Fair Residence Life Center opened. The main office for Housing and Residence Life located in the center. |
1998 | Two new apartment buildings bring campus occupancy to 2,100 students. (O'Daniel North: Bayh and Orr) |
1999 | First suite-style residence hall opened (Newman Hall); Food Services offered first meal plan |
2000 | Second residence hall, Governors Hall, opened |
2001 | O'Bannon Hall, third residence hall opened |
2004 | Fourth residence hall, Ruston Hall, opened |
2008 | McWest Community Center renovated and renamed to Residence Life Community Center |
2009 | Housing Services Building renovated. Office of Religious Life, O'Daniel South laundry along with Housing programming initiatives are located in the building. |
2011 | Housing and Residence Life (Robert J. Fair Residence Life Center) office renovated. |
2012 | USI campus housing can accommodate nearly 2,800 students |
