Visiting art professor/photographer to talk Instagram at USI

The University of Southern Indiana will host guest lecturer Arthur Fields, assistant professor of art and director of the Shircliff Gallery at Vincennes University at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 20 in Kleymeyer Hall in the lower level of the Liberal Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public.

His lecture, "Searched, Collected, and Tagged: Instagram and the Art of Making," is sponsored by the USI College of Liberal Arts, the Art and Design Department, and Rob Millard-Mendez, USI associate professor of art and chair of the Art and Design Department. 

Fields holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Imaging and Photography from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas. Currently his photographic interests are in self-image, portraits and technology relationships. He is a board member of two photographic arts organizations, TIcka-Arts and The Texas Photographic Society. He also is an active member of Society for Photographic Education serving as student volunteer coordinator of the SPE National Conference. His academic research has focused on using popular social media in the classroom.
