Nearly 600 to graduate in USI Fall Commencement ceremonies

The University of Southern Indiana will hold two Fall Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, December 10, in the Physical Activities Center (PAC).

The ceremony for the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education and College of Nursing and Health Professions will be held at 10 a.m. The ceremony for the College of Liberal Arts, Romain College of Business and Outreach and Engagement will be held at 1 p.m. Doors will open one hour prior to each ceremony.

Dr. Kathy V. Rodgers, professor emerita of mathematics and the recipient of the 2016 Distinguished Professor Award, will present the commencement address at both ceremonies.

In all, 595 students are eligible to participate in the two ceremonies. Of those, seven will graduate summa cum laude, 44 magna cum laude, and 57 cum laude.

Summa cum laude graduates, with a perfect 4.0 grade point average and recognizable at the ceremony by gold stoles and tassels, are: Aimee Bonnet, Maggie Comer, Emily Cummings, David Horner, Haley LaMar, Jennifer Wagner and Matthew Waltz.

Of the graduates, 17 are University Honors Scholars - students who have successfully completed the Honors Program - and can be recognized by the white honor cords worn with their regalia. They are: Lauren Abney, Ashley Brandenberger, Maggie Comer, Jordan Conaway, Kaleigh Constantino, Rachel Eickhoff, Lauren Johnson, Kaleb Kramer, Curt Meisling, Geryln Murrell, Lucas Neuffer, Coty Ritter, Jackie Ritter, Vanessa Rust, Megan Sink, Heather Willis and Allison Wingate.

Following each ceremony, a graduation reception will be held in the first floor of University Center East. The reception is sponsored by the USI Alumni Association and is free for graduates, their guests and USI faculty and staff.
