Historic New Harmony brings 19th century alive with 2016 Heritage Artisan Days

April 1, 2016

Historic New Harmony's 31st annual Heritage Artisan Days will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., April 20 through 22, throughout the town of New Harmony, Indiana. This Tri-State tradition celebrates 19th century arts, crafts and industry. The event continues to be a hands-on educational experience for regional school groups.

Participants will be immersed in history through activities, reenactments and time spent at local historic sites. New demonstrators this year include Steve McPhail, who will portray Johnny Appleseed, and Peggy Taylor, who will take wool from her sheep to spin and weave in a 19th century loom.

Popular 19th century doctor, Albert Roberts will share strange scientific practices of the 18th and 19th centuries each day at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon in Murphy Auditorium. Admittance to the show is included in ticket prices. Historic New Harmony asks that guests register for their intended time slots when purchasing tickets.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 7-17 and $30 per family. Group rates are available for school groups. Tickets can be purchased at a discounted price until April 4. Tickets for Heritage Artisan Days can be purchased at USI.edu/hnh.
