Commencement ceremony for Romain College of Business and Outreach and Engagement to be held on April 30

The University of Southern Indiana will hold a Commencement ceremony for undergraduate students in the Romain College of Business and Outreach and Engagement at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 30 in the Physical Activities Center (PAC) on the USI campus.

The 2016 Commencement speaker for the Romain College of Business and Outreach and Engagement is Robert A. Hon '89. He currently is managing director for Wells Fargo Advisors in Chicago, Illinois.

While at USI, Hon was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity where he held various positions, was a two-term president for Student Government Association and was active as an AMIGO (student orientation leader). He graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, and later attended Universidad Autonama de Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico, for an independent study on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

Hon has 20 years of experience providing wealth management services to high net-worth and ultra-high net-worth individuals, family offices and corporate clients. He has served as vice president of investments for Wayne Hummer Investments and Credit Suisse Investments, LLC, both in Chicago. He currently is the lead portfolio manager for his team with Wells Fargo Advisors. In 1987, Hon and his late father started their family-owned real estate business, Hon and Hon, LLC, which he still operates today.

He is co-founder of Musicians 4 Musicians, a charitable organization which partners with musicians and other non-profit groups providing a safe environment for children to learn the arts. The purpose is to help students develop self-confidence and skills that last a lifetime through music and art. Hon is also a board member for UpBeat Music and Arts.

Hon also is a retired board member of Spark Ventures. Spark Ventures is an innovative non-profit with a mission to provide sustainable solutions that lift communities out of poverty. Through philanthropic investments in social businesses, Spark Ventures leverages charitable contributions to provide ongoing funding for high-impact programming in education, health and nutrition.

A reception for the graduates and their friends and families will follow the ceremony and will be held in University Center East.
