USI will be there to satisfy your hunger at Fall Fest 2015

USI Provost to serve as parade grand marshal

September 24, 2015

The University of Southern Indiana will be well represented at the 94th annual West Side Nut Club Fall Festival. After almost a century, the Fall Festival continues to attract over 200,000 people and is one of the largest street festivals in the nation. Preparations have already begun for the week-long gala taking place October 4-10. From carnival attractions, parades and free entertainment, to more than 130 food booths, Franklin Street will soon be alive with entertainment for the entire family.

Continuing its tradition, USI will be there to satisfy your hunger needs with eight booths representing various University organizations. From cake balls to Walking-Stromboli's, the delicious possibilities are endless. USI's non-profit organizations, ranging from the Greeks to Art and Varsity Clubs, utilize the Fall Festival as part of their yearlong fundraising efforts.

You might recognize the Art Club's distinct bright yellow booth, featuring replications of famous works of art and, of course, their famous steaming corn on the cob. Last year, their corn booth earnings helped fund a trip to Italy!

The USI Varsity Club's well-known steak sandwiches can earn the club up to $25,000 to support athletic scholarships for the Screaming Eagles. It's also an opportunity for visitors to interact with USI athletics and the Varsity Club.

Greek organizations like Sigma Tau Gamma, Alpha Sigma Alpha, and Lambda Chi Alpha have been involved with the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival for over 20 years. The festival serves as a great opportunity for these organizations to donate funds to their philanthropic partners. Sigma Tau Gamma intends to donate 10 percent of profits to their national philanthropy, Special Olympics.

If you are looking to take your lunch off campus, check out what our USI-represented booths have to offer. This is also a great opportunity to cross off number 17 on the USI Bucket List: "Visit a USI booth at the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival."

Moving west to east down Franklin Street, you can find the following USI booths:

Booth 73 (Tau Kappa Epsilon): Grippos, stromboli, Ski

Booth 70 (Delta Zeta): Cake balls, fried pickles, jalapeno poppers, mozzarella sticks, Coke and Pepsi products

USI will once again enter a float in the Westside Nut Club Fall Festival Parade, which takes place this year on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. This year's float theme will incorporate USI's 50th anniversary and five decades of alumni. In previous years, USI's float has been awarded the Westside Nut Club Fall Festival Parade President's Award. Dr. Ronald Rochon, USI provost, will be the grand marshal of this year's parade.
