Janis DuBois to present on thrilling life of prominent Evansville woman

September 25, 2015

Janis DuBois, adjunct instructor of philosophy at the University of Southern Indiana, will present "Emily Orr's Trip 'Round the World," based on her research on Emily Orr, a historical figure and local Philanthropist. The presentation will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, October 2, in Kleymeyer Hall (LA0101).

This research will allow regional and Evansville residents to learn about the trip which caused Emily Orr to view the world around her in a different manner. The story will also interest those with a curiosity for local and women's history, gender issues, sociology and genealogy. The majority of information to be presented includes contents of love letters she wrote to her fiancé. These letters have been transcribed and analyzed over the course of 150 hours to provide information about the thrilling life of a prominent Evansville woman.

DuBois will be the second speaker in the College of Liberal Arts Faculty Colloquia Series, individual public lectures featuring current faculty research.
