Rowser named director of Graduate Studies

Dr. Ronald Rochon, provost, has announced the appointment of Dr. Mayola Rowser as director of Graduate Studies at the University of Southern Indiana. Rowser has served as interim director since February 2014. In the position, she will continue to oversee University-wide graduate program development and report directly to the provost. The appointment is effective Friday, May 1.

Rowser joined USI in 2004. She holds an associate's degree from the University of Evansville; bachelor and master's degrees from the University of Southern Indiana; and Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certificates and Doctor of Nursing Practice, and PhD degrees, all from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). She holds certifications and licenses from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, Indiana State Board of Nursing, and the Indiana Controlled Substance Regulation.

"I am extremely excited about this University appointment. As our graduate programs continue to expand, Dr. Rowser will be instrumental in moving Graduate Studies forward for USI," said Provost Dr. Ronald Rochon.

Rowser previously served the College of Nursing and Health Professions as assistant dean and chair of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program, assistant professor of nursing, and as project coordinator, project director, and principal investigator for a Health Resource Services Administration grant.

She is the 2005 recipient of the Academic Excellence and Community Service Award from UTHSC, the 2003 recipient of the Distinguished Nursing Alumni Award from USI's College of Nursing and Health Professions, and a 2002 recipient of a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Doctoral Fellowship. She holds professional memberships in various organizations; has been published in numerous journals and publications; and is a regular presenter at regional, national, and international conferences and events. She also has been instrumental in securing numerous grants for USI.
