The University of Southern Indiana will kick off its Romain Subaru Screaming Eagles Running Series on February 14 with the Romain Subaru Hearts on Fire 5K.

The Romain Subaru Screaming Eagles Running Series, a three-race series held on and around the University of Southern Indiana campus, begins Saturday, February 14, with the fifth annual Hearts on Fire 5K. The Run of Luck 7K will be held on Saturday, March 14, and the Spring into Fitness 10K will be Saturday, April 11.

Participants who register for all three races in USI's 2014 Romain Subaru Screaming Eagles Running Series will receive a discounted registration cost of $55.

The running series is intended to increase the health and well-being of the Evansville community, while also providing hands-on experience for students in USI's Sports Management program, who organize the series.

Registration for the Hearts on Fire 5K is $20 until February 7 and $25 until race day. Registration is available online at www.usi.edu/running or on location the day of the event.

The top three male and female runners in each age group will be recognized in an awards ceremony following the race. Awards also will be given to best overall male and female and top challenged athlete in each division, as well as best cupid costume and others.

The Hearts on Fire 5K will be followed by a free Cupid Fun Run for children. Children age birth to 9 will run or walk distances of 100 meters up to a half mile. All child runners will receive medals for participation.  Strollers are welcome.

Proceeds from the event will go to the USI Sport Management scholarship fund, professional development opportunities, and future event operations offered through the Department of Kinesiology and Sport.
