A four-member team of accounting students from the University of Southern Indiana’s College of Business is a finalist in a state-wide competition. The annual Indiana CPA (INCPAS) Case Study Competition challenges students with a practical project that requires them to use their knowledge, skills, and judgment in a business acquisition analysis.
Team members this year include senior accounting majors Matthew D. Cooper, Ryan Eichmiller, Dustin McGrew, and Nicole Smith.
The team competed in an initial presentation against 12 universities and colleges from the state of Indiana last week. USI was chosen as one of six finalists to compete in Indianapolis this Friday, where they will make an oral presentation in front of a panel of judges at the Hilton Hotel.
Accounting Instructors Jeanette Maier-Lytle and Jamie Seitz are advisors for the team this year.
“I am very proud of these students,” said Maier-Lytle. “They will often work overnight to prepare for the presentations. We have been working very hard on this and are excited to see the results of the competition.”
Other finalists include Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Manchester University, Purdue University, Saint Mary’s College, and Valparaiso University.
