Trustees vote to change fees for summer classes

11/1/2012 | University Communications

The University of Southern Indiana Board of Trustees met on November 1, 2012, and approved reinstating the full $202.83 per semester credit hour for resident undergraduate students for summer 2013. In place of a discount offered last summer to in-state students, there will be a reduced rate for those successfully completing a regular summer session course as well as taking an online course.

Under the revised system, distance learning course fees can be reduced to $101.42 per semester credit hour for resident undergraduate students. To qualify, a student must complete and pass a summer course on campus for each summer distance learning course attempted.

In other business, the trustees approved awarding undergraduate and graduate degrees to 600 students during Fall Commencement on December 8, 2012. The ceremony for graduates in the College of Business and in the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education will take place at 10 a.m. A 1 p.m. ceremony will take place for graduates from the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Nursing and Health Professions, and the Division of Outreach and Engagement.  Dr. Paul Kuban, associate professor of engineering, will deliver the Commencement address at both ceremonies. He was named the 2012 Distinguished Professor, and it is USI tradition for the recipient to address the fall graduates.
