OT Program Information

Partnership in Education

Fieldwork is an important component to our OT student's academic experience.
Sites collaborate with the USI OT program and facilitate learning by:

Building on the previous levels of knowledge and coursework provided by offering practical hands on experiences to students.

Structuring learning in a fashion that builds on previous knowledge. Supervision is also structured by initially providing direct supervision and then decreasing to less direct supervision as the student demonstrates readiness and as appropriate for setting and regulatory guidelines.

Facilitating the development of intellectual curiosity, creativity, clinical reasoning and reflective practices.

Understanding the holistic nature of the occupational therapy profession by engaging the whole person, body, mind and emotions through client-centered, meaningful and occupation-based treatment and outcomes.
