22nd ANNUAL RESEARCH, EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE, and PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT IN HEALTHCARE CONFERENCE

Wednesday, April 18, 2018

This conference will provide an environment to disseminate research, evidence based practice and performance improvement among healthcare disciplines. The attendee will have an opportunity to learn about strategies to improve patient care and health care systems, through the keynote presentation and juried oral and poster presentations, as well as network with other professionals who are interested in promoting quality patient care. The learner outcome of this program is to prepare health professionals to implement effective research and evidence-based healthcare strategies and practices in their individual professional practice and their organization.

Dr. Bernice A. Pescosolido, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor of Sociology at Indiana University and Director of the Indiana Consortium for Mental Health Services Research, will present the keynote address.  Dr. Pescosolido received her Ph.D. from Yale University and has focused her research and teaching on social issues in health, illness and healing.  Dr. Pescosolido has published widely in sociology, social science, public health and medical journals, served on the editorial board of a dozen national and international journals, presented internationally and been elected to a variety of leadership positions in professional associations.  She is working with researchers at the CDC to bring together the best insights from psychiatric and sociological research on suicide. Dr. Pescosolido developed the Network-Episode Model which was designed to focus on how individuals come to recognize, respond to the onset of health problems, and use health care services. As a result, she has served on advisory agenda-setting efforts at the NIMH, NCI, NHLBI, NIDRR, OBSSR and presented at congressional briefings.
