Description of Program
Increased levels of cholesterol and triglycerides are associated with morbidity and mortality from vascular diseases. Hypercholesterolemia can be related to dietary choices or familial genetics. Patients with diabetes, hypothyroidism, and excess alcohol intake are prone to abnormal lipid metabolism. Thus the evaluation and management of lipid disorders require the healthcare professional to be knowledgeable of laboratory evaluation, risk assessment, primary prevention and treatment. This program was designed utilizing the latest clinical guidelines and content focus for the certification examination.
Information regarding the certification examination specific to dyslipidemia management by the Accreditation Council for Clinical Lipidology can be obtained at www.lipidspecialist.org
