The Merit Scholar Program consists of three prestigious scholarships that attract the best and brightest students to USI.
The USI Foundation's Presidential Scholarship was established in 1988 to invite high-performing students to USI by making full four-year scholarships available to qualified valedictorians and salutatorians. Today, 40 Presidential Scholars are enrolled at USI, including 10 new freshmen. Since the first Presidential Scholar graduating class in 1991, 200 Presidential Scholars have earned baccalaureate degrees, 167 (84%) with honors.
A gift of $200,000 endowment, or a four-year commitment of $8,500, will establish a B/MD Scholarship.
The Deans Scholarship is a merit scholarship patterned after the Presidential Scholarships, but without the valedictorian/salutatorian requirement. 10 Deans Scholarships are awarded annually to students who graduate at the top or near the top of their high school classes. An annual charitable gift of $2,000 helps underwrite each Deans Scholarship, which guarantees a full tuition award and can be named by the donor.
A gift of $100,000, or a four-year commitment of $8,000, will establish a Deans Scholarship.
Baccalaureate/Doctor of Medicine (B/MD) Scholarships are awarded annually to 6 exceptional students who are residents of Indiana, entering in the fall as USI freshmen, scoring at least a combined score of 1800 (including writing) or 1200 (excluding writing) on the SAT or 27 composite score on the ACT, and earning a high school GPA of at least 3.5 (4.0).The scholarship offers full tuition waiver and a provisional seat in the Indiana University School of Medicine. A total of 24 B/MD Scholars are enrolled at USI every year.
A gift of $100,000 endowment, or a four-year commitment of $8,000, will establish a B/MD Scholarship.
