Financial Accounting Track

The Financial Accounting Track is one of five specialized tracks developed for BA or BS Accounting and Professional Services majors at USI.

Accountants in public practice provide audit, tax, or management advisory services. Public accounting experience provides a great foundation for an accounting career, and it also includes working with an assortment of clients.

Public accountants typically perform a variety of services, and students in the Financial Accounting Track often aspire to a career involving:

  • tax return preparation
  • tax planning
  • auditing and attestation services (attesting to the fairness of financial statements)
  • performing financial investigations in cases of fraud, insolvency, or disputes

Accountants in public practice are usually certified as Certified Public Accountants (CPA).

The courses that emphasize financial accounting education include:

ACCT 401 - Advanced Accounting
ACCT 411 - Advanced Federal Taxation
ACCT 422 - Financial Report and Analysis
BLAW 363 - Law for the Entrepreneur
